The Schatzalp is the place for those who need peace and quiet, who love nature or want to experience history. The historic hotel and the Alpine countryside leave a dual imprint. The funicular railroad still opens up the area.
On a unique sun-drenched terrace, 300 meters above Davos, the car-free Schatzalp is the ideal place for rest and recuperation. You will enjoy the breathtaking view of the Davos landcape. From the center of Davos you will reach the “Magic Mountain” via the hotel-owned Davos-Schatzalp cable car in only four minutes.
The efforts to build an aerial cable car from Davos-Platz to Schatzalp date back at least to the year 1894. Five years later the first spade of earth was turned.
The present-day Hotel Schatzalp opened in 1900 as a luxury sanatorium. Only in 1954, after careful renovation, did the Schatzalp open as a hotel. For the year 2008, the hotel garnered the award “Historic Hotel of the Year 2008”.
To let a fresh wind blow on the Schatzalp, a tower will be built to replace the old mountain station. Since no settlements may be built on the Schatzalp, construction has to stretch skywards. With the new tower hotel there will be no front or back rooms. Instead, all rooms will offer fabulous vistas.
