In Cassarate the passengers board the Monte Brè cable car. This cable car has been a reliable conveyance since 1912. In about 12 minutes it transports its passengers to a height of 925 meters on Monte Brè.
The first section of the Monte Brè cable car ends in Suvigliana, where as early as 1910 the first mountain trains operated. The work on the second section was delayed for several reasons. But in February 1912 the whole route could be solemnly inaugurated.
The construction of the cable car on Monte Brè brought an immense increase in tourism to the village of Brè, which is nestled at the eastern face of the mountain. Countless visitors are eager to enjoy an unhampered vista of Lugano from the sun-drenched terrace. It is worth your while to pay a visit to the village of Brè sitting on a pass behind the mountain.
