Distinguished «for the comprehensive preservation and perpetuation of high quality hotel architecture, the rich stylistic history of which may be discovered in the hotel’s own museum.»

The late classic main building was constructed between 1875 and 1877. The two secondary buildings, the Villa Belmont and the Villa Silvana, were added in 1881 and 1889. In 1904, a common building comprising a restaurant, a café and entertainment halls was built and decorated with a special panorama by Swiss painter Giovanni Giacometti (see Special «Mobiliar» Prize 2005). With these four distinctly different buildings, in terms of style, function and volumes, a rare example of a hotel complex in the pavilion system was created, the whole of which is duly cared for and artfully complemented with contemporary architectural elements. In 1992, the «Belle Epoque» hotel museum was created and in 1994, the common building was restored. In 2003, the Villa Silvana was renovated and in 2004, a wellness center was added in a filigree glass cube.
