The Matterhorn is Switzerland's most famous landmark, the most beautiful mountain in the world and considered by many true mountaineers to be the peak of all peaks. Each year hordes of climbers from all corners of the globe attempt to scale the Matterhorn - a genuine challenge. Anyone who manages to scale the Matterhorn has good reason to be proud of him or her. Zermatt congratulates the conquerors on this mountaineering achievement. All those who make it to the top will in future be able to inscribe their name on a small plaque in the new Matterhorn museum and join the "Matterhorn climbers' club".

How to get there - The yellow-green electric bus, leaving at the entrance of Zermatt, takes you to the bottom station of the Matterhorn glacier paradise. The 8-seater Matterhorn-Express cable railway takes you up to the Furi station. From here the cableway takes you further up to Trockener Steg. The highest cableway in Europe transports visitors up past giant crevasses to the Matterhorn glacier paradise and into a breathtaking mountain landscape of glaciers and permanent snow. The exciting tour from Zermatt to the Matterhorn glacier paradise takes about 40 minutes.

The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise - The world's highest glacier palace, is the highest sightseeing point in Europe and the most fascinating glacier palace in the world, which is accessible by cableway! It is approximately 15 meters under the surface of the glacier, and the various glacial splits and gaps, can all be explored in amazement. Discrete lighting and spherical sounds accompany this small wonder of the glacial world. Information about the creation of the palace, glaciology and wine, and the fascinating sculptures skillfully honed from the ice all add up to a very special experience. Snow is found here 365 days a year. So anyone venturing up to the Matterhorn glacier paradise will also find him or herself in Europe's largest summer skiing area. (40 mins from Zermatt).

Folklore evening on Sunnegga - A paradise for families. On an underground funicular you travel from Zermatt to Sunnegga paradise the "sunny corner" of Zermatt. Here on the Alps you will be basking in the sunshine from dawn to dusk. From the large sun terrace of this cosy eat out restaurant you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Matterhorn available from the superb viewing point on Sunnegga paradise. Enjoy a typical Valais menu with dried meat, salad rosti and raclette accompanied with chill alpine breeze and some excellent wine. The aperitif on the terrace will be accompanied by Alpine horn music and the evening meal by typical Swiss folklore music. Scheduled daily from May to October (check with tourist information) the folklore show with the Swiss backdrop of the Matterhorn is definitely memorable.

Marmot's observation post - From Sunnegga paradise, a few minutes away is the marmot observation post, where you can take a closer look at these cute little rodents. If you would like to get to know the marmot better, you can take a 5-minute ride with the state-of-the-art, 8-seater cable car from Sunnegga paradise to Blauherd. From here the Marmot Trail leads back to Sunnegga paradise. On this theme trail, you'll find out all about the marmot and its habits.

Here you have Europe's highest outdoor pool  with a superb view of the Matterhorn, a Dream - World  of Massages, Reflexology, Hay bath, Solarium and Organic sauna. You can also experience the unique cave with steam bath. The temperatures in this steam bath maintained with a lot of radiated heat, as from an open fireplace. At regular intervals, guests can enjoy the spectacular site of the basket of stones being lifted out of the boiler, swung through 180° and then plunged into a water bath, generating a huge cloud of steam. The name is actually a reference to the view from the window of the cave, which looks out onto the Schönbiel mountain cabin!
