Schynige Platte is a mountain in the Bernese Oberland that offers a magnificant panoramic view of Lake Brienz, Lake Thun, Interlaken and the famous mountain trio of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In the summer, the cogwheel train takes visitors to the mountain station, which is located at 1,957 meters above sea level.

The Alpine Botanical Garden that specializes in local plants and flowers that grow above the tree line is to be found here. The diverse plants are shown in their natural plant communities. Over two-thirds of all the Alpine plants that grow in Switzerland can be observed and studied in this small area, thanks to informative labels.
