Classic walk on Piz Corvatsch

Surlej

The hiking area around the Upper Engadine lakes must be one of the most popular and spectacular in Switzerland. Yet, even here, where Nature has been so extravagant in her creation of beautiful scenery, there are still some walks that surpass all others.

Description

Murtèl (middle station of the Corvatschbahn) - Fuorcla Surlej - Hahnensee - Surlej

The descent from Murtèl to the Hahnensee must fall into that category, offering as it does stunning views in all directions. In the higher section of the walk, your gaze is drawn to Piz Corvatsch and Piz Bernina. Lower down, there is a magnificent panorama of the Champèrer, Silvaplana and Sils lakes.
The first part of the tour leads on a wide path from Murtèl towards Fuorcla Surlej. Shortly before the final climb up to Fuorcla, a narrow path leads off to the left. This is the start of the wonderful descent to the Hahnensee. The final part of the walk passes through beautiful pine forests down to Surlej.
