Rhythmus 23
This artwork is strongly related to the eponymous movie made by the German artist in 1923. From the 1910s Richter, together with Vicking Eggling, developed a meticulous reflection on cinematographic abstraction, which led to the creation of the absolute movie. In addition to experimental films, in those years the artist made a series of works in which the composition of geometric elements aimed at translating on the surface the movement and the time typical of the art of cinema.
