To date, more than 800,000 visitors have travelled to Lake Thun to enjoy fascinating, top-class performances at the foot of the UNESCO-listed mountainscape including the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Together with Europe's most beautiful lake stage, the unique catering makes the Lake Thun Festival a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Today, the Lake Thun Festival is one of Europe's top 10 open-air musical events. The programme comprises international classics like Evita and West Side Story and award-winning in-house productions such as Dällebach Kari and Gotthelf.

After the world premiere of “The Visit – the Musical” (based on the Friedrich Dürrenmatt play) in Thun in summer 2013, the Lake Thun Festival's third in-house production continued in February 2014 at the Ronacher Theatre in Vienna and played to packed houses in Japan. “The Visit – the Musical” is therefore the first Swiss musical production to be performed internationally.
