The first Pride in the Jura took place in 2003, under the slogan
“faiREconnaissance”. The people of the Jura gave a very warm welcome to the
LGBT (Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, both local and
visiting – and also joined in many of the events in large numbers.
This year’s gathering builds on past successes, and incorporates a number of
themes such as family, youth, homophobia and trans-identity – addressed at a
variety of events including conferences, talks, and workshops for teachers.
Highlight of Pride will of course be the celebrations on 30 June 2012, with
talks followed by a procession, a “village” with stands in the Old Town and
various cultural events. A campsite will be set up especially for Pride, and
a brunch held on the Sunday to round off the festivities.
