The history of Château d'Ouchy dates back to 1170, when the Bishop of Lausanne had a large tower built.Having at various times been destroyed, burned down and enlarged, the estate was sold in 1885 to one Jean-Jacques Mercier, who had the ruins torn down. Only the tower was left standing and this was modernized and incorporated into the Neogothic château built in 1893.
In 2001, the hotel was purchased by French-speaking Switzerland's lottery provider, which fixed it up and in 2007 reopened it as a boutique hotel under the direction of the Lausanne Palace & SPA.
