The Sonne was one of the first restaurants to obtain tavern rights in Switzerland. The tower is thought to date from the 14th century. The former tavern was mentioned for the first time in a document in 1641. A beautiful ballroom was added in 1839, and remains preserved until today. Celebrities such as Carl Jung, Thomas Mann, Franz Kafka and Lenin count amongst the Sonne's guests.
