Moléson - Views of the Alps and the Stars

Fribourg Region

Moléson is the striking emblem of the Freiburg Pre-Alps. The vacation village of Moléson-sur-Gruyères is located on its flanks. The village is the starting point for the journey to the 2,002-meter peak and the gateway to the largest skiing region in the Freiburg region.

During the day one has a superb, sweeping view of the region around Lake Geneva, Gruyères Region (Greyerzerland in German) and the Alps, and at night breathtaking vistas of the depths of the universe. All this is possible on top of Mt. Moléson thanks to the world's largest binoculars and an observatory with four telescopes. The peak can be reached by cable car from the vacation village of Moléson-sur-Gruyères. The cable car leads to Plan-Francey. Subsequently, one continues traversing the rocks by aerial cable car. In the winter, eight lifts, 35 kilometers of ski piste as well as a bobsled run guarantee unforgettable descents. In the summer the Trottinett and Dévalkart (non-motorized go-carts) let visitors enjoy thrilling downhill adventures, while the well-known Alp Show Dairy offers insights into the production of the famous Gruyère mountain cheese.
