For lovers of Historic Hotels
The hotel was built in the Landi style, inspired by the 1939 National Exhibition. The original inventory is carefully preserved and nurtured. The restaurant is recognized for its architectural authenticity and its fresh market produce cuisine. Chesa is incidentally also known as 'Hollywood on the rocks': Movie stars, producers and directors from around the world love to stop in here for a bite to eat.
Certified by ICOMOS
Special distinction 2000
Distinguished "for the preservation and the long lasting care of a traditional general work of art (from the interior design to the small items) as a manifest of high quality country style from the late 30s".
The Chesa Grischuna was built in 1938, at a time when Switzerland was reclaiming its traditional style through the National Exhibition in Zurich. Architecture, interior design, loose furniture and everything else in the inventory were all designed by Hermann Schneider, a Zurich architect. The work was carried out exclusively by local artisans. Artists from the owner’s circle of friends also contributed some frescoes and paintings to the collective work of art. The history of the house is closely linked to detained American soldiers, who returned to the Chesa Grischuna after the war with their families and friends to create a “little Hollywood”. To this day, the hotel has never lost its unique atmosphere.
For lovers of Typically Swiss Hotels
Klosters is a small mountain wonder: the longer one stays, the less one wishes to leave again. And the same applies to the romantic Hotel Chesa Grischuna where guests not only feel totally at ease in their exclusive rooms, but also at the most beautiful bar in the village.
Klosters is also permitted to assert proudly that it holds the highest number of Gault-Millau points per inhabitant.
Chef Manfred Möller, by the way, has contributed 13 points here with his "modern regional cuisine".
