The narrow Calanca Valley is one of the Italian speaking southern valleys of Graubünden. It has earned its name Calanca (steeply sloping).
Description
A jewel of a mountain valley, it spreads from the entrance near Grono to the hamlets in the farthest corner. The Calanca Valley fascinates visitors with its amazing riches of art treasures and cultural history. Little villages and hamlets, mostly consisting of age-old stone houses with grey slate roofs, sunny terraces, and snow-white chapels dot the valley. Many places can only be reached on foot or with an aerial cable-car. A vacation region for sybarites and people who like an exclusive ambience.
