It was fun driving from Paris to Zurich, we did it on 28th December 2011, started early morning from Paris and reached Zurich around 12.30 (6 and half hours). We had a quick break of getting gasoline and coffee in between. Road is good, GPS found us 100Km shorter route which did not reduced the time but gave us much beautiful drive than highway, and u can drive over 100km on that route too. U can see Alps 30 min before entering Swiss boarders from the distance and when we crossed Swiss boarder every thing change u can see hills both side of the road very close and u cross 3 tunnels long ones and we saw light snow on the distant hills and heavy snow on distant, my 9 years son Chanakya shouted see lot of snow. (Coming from Costa Rica, so bit crazy about snow) and in less than 30 min we were in Zurich. Be careful in France u normally drive around 140Km but as u get in swiss boarder ur limit is 100km.
Hi Passing through, may stop for a day or two, in our 6 tonne motorhome in January 2012 but having difficulty trying to establish how much the road toll will be and can we purchase before arrival? Rgds John
can i drive in Switzerland with a valid UAE driving license for just two weeks only on a family short visit (can I drive my sister's car, whos is a resident of Switzerland?) please help.
Hello you can buy the Vignette for 40 swiss francs at the border station when you enter Switzerland, it is valid for 1 year. Ensure you do buy one as when you leave Switzerland you may be stopped and have to pay the original fee plus a fine for not having the Vignette.
How do we buy/obtain a vignette to drive thru switzerland. Or can we buy one when we enter the country. How much do they cost?
Mrs M Storer
I understand thst we need to have a vignette for travelling by car in Switzerland. Is this correct and if so can we buy it at the London Swiss Tourist Office please? Thank you
