Today's Wilden Mann occupies what were once seven separate houses in the picturesque medieval town centre of Lucerne.The earliest written record of the establishment is dated 1517 describes it as a "Pinte", meaning a house without a licence; indeed, not until 1726 was the Wilden Mann able to call itself a tavern.
The entire complex now counts as impressive testimony to the history of tourism in Lucerne.
Despite being a conglomerate of seven different houses, the hotel is still a recognizably Belle Epoque structure which blends in perfectly with the historical architecture surrounding it.
