Mont Fort - between Verbier and Nendaz

Verbier/Haute-Nendaz

Mont Fort is 3,328 meters high and thus the highest mountain in the region of "Quatre Vallées", the four valleys (Verbier is one of them), that has been made accessible by train. One can simultaneously view famous mountain giants such as the Matterhorn and Montblanc from the Valaisian peak.

Six villages in the French-speaking Valais and their mountain train companies have joined forces to form one of the largest skiing and hiking areas in the region. Thanks to this collaboration, Mont Fort can be reached by cable car, either from Haute-Nendaz or from Verbier.

Both routes first take one to Col des Gentianes, which is at an altitude of 2950 meters above sea level and is the center of the Mont Fort region. Visitors continue their journey in a smaller gondola train, which takes them directly to the peak and the glacier of Mont Fort. The mountain offers visitors impressive high alpine views (at any time of the year) and excellent snow conditions with challenging pistes.
