Before everyone else, the English discovered these beautiful landscapes as vacation and recreation destinations around the middle of last century. Today one no longer travels to the Belalp on the backs of mules, but in the large cabins of the cable car starting in Blatten.

In the summer an excellent network of hiking trails extends all around Belalp and offers a magnificent panorama of 17 Valaisian 4000-meter peaks as well as the 24-kilometer long Great Aletsch Glacier. It is a marvelous experience to see the gigantic river of ice cut a path between Aletschhorn and Eggishorn. Also unforgettable is the view through the Massa Gorge up the Rhone Valley.

Adventure for hardy hikers
The 124-m-long suspension bridge at the foot of the Aletsch glacier connects Belalp with Riederalp. Crossing this bridge is sure to be an unforgettable experience for all who do it.
