Cosy chalets in the valley and on the slopes, above them peaks crowned with crags: the Saanenland, then the Simmen Valley. A change of trains in Zweisimmen. And Lake Thun soon comes into view. You are travelling to Interlaken. The train, which waits here, wishes to acquaint you with Lake Brienz and the Giessbach waterfalls near Brienz, before moving on.
From Meiringen onwards, it starts to climb uphill, onto the Brünig Pass, and from there down to central Switzerland. Once again, mountain air, pastures, cows. There’s still Lake Lungern and Lake Sarnen to see on your descent, and then Lake Alpnach. You have reached the very heart of Switzerland. Lake Lucerne already awaits you after the short tunnel. Lucerne is just around the corner. You have arrived at the terminus of the GoldenPass Line.
