As you enjoy the Alpine panorama at the Scex Rouge mountain station (2,971 m, Restaurant Botta), make sure those bindings are firmly fastened before taking off. Start with a few swings on the blue section of slope down to the glacier surface. When you reach the Oldensattel take a little breather and enjoy views from the valley as far as Gstaad. After a few deep breaths, it’s time to tackle some steep sections with their black-coded level of difficulty. To your right, you’ll see the imposing Sanetsch mountain range. A final steep descent takes you to the Oldenalp (1,834 metres) where there is a snow bar – you would have now dropped a whopping 1,137 metres in altitude. After a chairlift ride, you’ll be tempted to linger on the sun terrace on Oldenegg (Oldegg mountain restaurant, 1,919 m).
This piste is very snow-sure and usually well accessible until early May (artificial snow on the Oldensattel-Oldenalp section). When there is enough snow, it is possible to make the descent (3 km) from Oldenegg (1,919 m) to Reusch (1,350 m) – an enjoyable descent over short, gentle slopes and narrow trails (black slope).
