Acquacrossa (Ticino)
A three-day hike, called the Sentiero alto, is an excellent way of getting to know this interesting valley up close and personal. The hike connects Loderio with Olivone. Sleep in Alp Püsced in a former alpine hut. Hikers can spend the next night either at the Ostello Cancorì in the ski resort Nara or in Alp Gorda.
Beatenberg (Bernese Oberland)
The views are unto themselves on this challenging ridge hike connecting the Niederhorn (1949 m.a.s.l.), easily accessible by chairlift, with Mt. Gemmenalphorn (2061 m.a.s.l.) and which veers down towards Habkern. The snowy peaks of the Bernese Alps vie with the karst cliffs of Hohgant and the Prealpine Region.
Brienzer Rothorn (Bernese Oberland)
The 2 1//2-half-hour-long ridge hike from Mt Rothorn by Brienz to Alp Schönbüel just above Lungern is a classic not only because of its phenomenal views but also because one has to take the steam train to get to the starting point. Once on the summit of the 2350-meter-high Rothorn, one hikes along the mountain ridge, enjoying the unfettered views from here.
Emmetten (Central Switzerland)
An hour's hike from the mountain station of the Emmetten - Niederbauen aerial cable-car leaves one in Niederbauen-Chulm (1923 m.a.s.l.), where the views are grandiose. See Lake Luzern, Mt. Bristen, Mt Pilatus, and Mt. Rigi.
Kandersteg (Bernese Oberland)
The six-day hiking tour around Mt. Wildstrubel is a singular alpine experience, as well as a challenge. It starts off in Kandersteg and crosses several hiking passes. It takes in Adelboden, Lenk, Crans-Montana, Leukerbad and the Lötschen Pass back into the Kander Valley.

While one's views constantly change, the one thing one does not lose sight of though is the massive Les Diablerets chain.
Maggia (Ticino)
A Ticino classic and a hike that takes some stamina is the five-hour Cristallina Tour. Start in Robiei in the Val Bavona, cross the Cristallino Pass and wind up in Ossasco in the Val Bedretto. This tour is dominated by views of glaciers, granite, gneiss, and mountain lakes.
Meiringen (Bernese Oberland)
Ambitious hikers will want to try their hand at this long distance hike called "Hintere Gasse" (backstreets) connecting Meiringen to Gsteig via Grosse and Kleine Scheidegg, Sefinenfurge, Hohtürli, Bonderchrinde, Hahnenmoos Pass, Trütlisberg Pass and Chrine. The hike generally lasts eight days.
Moléson (Fribourg Region)
The eastern face of Moléson, between Plan-Francey and Gros-Moléson, offers unexpected wealth when it comes to plant-life.
Pilatus (Central Switzerland)
Once on the Pilatus, one can do a brief tour around the Oberhaupt in only 20 minutes or climb the Esel in a quarter of an hour. A half-hour's hike will bring visitors to the Tomlishorn, the furthest peak. Here the views are colossal: 360° of mountains!
Schwägalp (Eastern Switzerland / Liechtenstein)
Sitting in the mountain inn "Alter Säntis" and looking over to Mt. Altmann one wonders how there could possibly be a way that connects these two mountains. And indeed, it is not something vertigo-afflicted people should attempt.
Schwanden (Eastern Switzerland / Liechtenstein)
The mountainous area between Sernf Valley and Linthal is not only interesting because of its beautiful landscape but also because it has an interesting history. In 1548, it was declared Europe's first hunting reserve. These days, there is a wondeful hiking trail that snakes right into the high alpine valley connecting Mettmenalp and Wildmad-Furggeli, the pass that crosses down into Elm.
Schwarzsee (Fribourg Region)
This easy, three-hour hike that connects French and German-speaking Switzerland begins in Schwarzsee. From here ascend to the Euschels Pass and continue to Jaun, the only Swiss-German village in the French-speaking Gruyères region. Indeed, the Euschels Pass itself is very close to the language barrier.

St-Luc (Valais)
One of the prettiest hikes is the mountain tour up the Bella Tola, 3025 m.a.sl., the peak looming between Turtmann Valley and Val d'Anniviers. The hike lasts three hours from the mountain station of the funicular that brings one up to St-Luc - Tignousa, 2169 m.a.s.l. This spectacularly panoramic hike high above the Val d'Anniviers can be done by anyone who is reasonably in shape.
Zweisimmen (Bernese Oberland)
The tour which connects Mt. Rinderberg above Zwiesimmen and Mt. Hornberg near Gstaad is a ridge hike that is a dream come true: it is fairly easy and the hiking trails are very well-kept. The entire hike takes place at about an altitude of 2000 meters. The views are of the impressive peaks, firns and glaciers, as well as flower-bedecked alpine meadows. Ascend by chairlift and take a chairlift again at the end.
