The former Hotel Rigibahn, now the Hobby Hotel, stands directly beside the paddle-steamer stop and the Rigi railway station on Lake Lucerne. The hotel was built in 1873 by the Vitznau-Rigi Railway, the fi rst cog railway in Europe (1871), as part of the station complex.

Renovation (1899) and extensions by the architect Arnold Berger (1928) altered the size and appearance of the building. As well as holidays and fi ne cuisine, the hotel runs a variety of craft and creativity courses. The Restaurant Rondel, which projects over the water, offers impressive, sweeping views across the lake.
