Taubenlochschlucht (Dovecote Gorge) is one of the most popular hikes in the region. Whether this is because of the romantic surroundings, the pleasant coolness along the way or the fact that it is an easy enough hike for families also to explore the gorge, one thing is certain: The walk from Biel to Frinvillier through the mysterious Taubenlochschlucht remains a magical experience.
Although Biel is the capital of the watch industry, it's (almost) impossible to visit a watch factory. But there is an alternative: the Omega Museum opposite the factory.
The hiking tour from Magglingen across Mt. Twannberg down to Twann is a "classic-" - the most popular tour of Lake Biel. The beautiful views of Twannberg mountain contrast strikingly with the deep Twannbach ravine. The views of the lake and Petersinsel island round off the tour, cementing its effect as a unique hiking experience. A subsequent stroll through the center of Twann, which is well worth seeing, is followed by a bonus - a comfortable cruise on a ship back to Biel.
The Congress Centre in the city centre of Biel/Bienne, with its architecture from the 1950s and 60s, renovated in 2001/2002, is a major feature of the city. Under its impressive suspended roof, an amazing range of cultural and commercial events take place, everything from fitness to leisure activities.
