Romantic little Gantrisch lake

Little mountain lake at 1578 m. Until just a few years ago, the Gantrischseeli was almost entirely silted up, but now thanks to some very committed volunteers it is once again a rewarding place to come to for a short mountain walk. Start from the Untere Gantrischhütte at 1510 m. The path takes you past cows and goats into the nature conservation area around the lake. Don't forget your binoculars for spying out chamois!

Nature park and cross-country paradise

45 km of cross-country ski trails for traditional skiing and skating combine the main departure points: Schwarzenbühl/Selital, Ottenleuebad and the Gurnigel water divide. The network is supplemented by several somewhat more demanding secondary routes. The cross-country ski trails with reliable snowfalls and views of the Gantrisch range, Lake Thun and the Alps are suitable for dedicated sportspersons as well as amateur cross-country skiers.

Peace, views, space, sun and lengthy distances – the Gantrisch cross-country ski region and beautiful pre-Alp landscapes along with the Gantrisch nature park, on the threshold to the city of Bern, is a most popular spot for top athletes and ski hikers alike.

Hotel Restaurant Schwarzenbühl

Panoramic view from the Jura deep into the Swiss Mittelland, a fog-free zone! Hotel rooms and dormitories, Swiss cooking, in some cases using old-fashioned recipes. At the Schwarzenbühl, sport and leisure opportunities begin right outside the door!

Gägger walkway: Storm-damaged timber

Pristine wilderness: At the end of 1999, ‘Lothar’, the storm of the century, destroyed large expanses of forest in the "Gägger" forest reserve. The buckled storm-damaged timber and the forest scars that are slowly undergoing revegetation can all be viewed from a raised wooden walkway: enjoyment for all nature lovers! Here, visitors will gain unique insights into burgeoning nature and the natural development of an area subjected to storm damage.
