Brienzer Rothorn – steam mountain

A nostalgic rack railroad driven by steam engines leads up the Brienz Rothorn, which was even in the 19th century one of the most popular vantage points for views in the Bernese Oberland. The train takes about one hour to climb the 1,678 meters difference in height.

Puffing we head on and up in Brienz, while ascending in a second climb from Sörenberg. On the south side with steam since 1892, and aboard large cabins on the mountain railway from the north.
