The Blenio Valley is where the "Sentiero Basso" is, a hiking path following the valley from Biasca to Olivone. It passes through Aquarosse, and touches some nearly virginal parts of the Ticino. Every once in a while one will find a hidden treasure, such as the Romanic belfries, the baroque churches and the medieval castle ruins.
The Blenio Valley is typical of the northern Ticino: densely forested cliffs towering over a sun-flecked ravine-like valley.
The secrets of medicinal herbs are guarded in the sunny Blenio valley. Discover the beneficial effects, the scents and flavours of many Alpine herbs which are cultivated here in harmony with nature. Essential oils, herb teas and many other highly aromatic products from the heart of the Ticino Alps.
In the region between Olivone and the Lukmanier Pass there are seven diverse nature trails that offer plenty of exciting experiences and interesting facts about the region. The circular trails are between six and 14 kilometers long and can be walked in two to four hours. Interesting topics such as renewable energy, moors, climate and biodiversity of the Alps are covered on these trails. Information is available at the tourist office in Olivone.
