But rather than making it into a tense experience, it is all brought into a harmonious synchronization at the Centro Ecologico Uomonatura in Acquacalda, 1750 m.a.s.l. just below the summit. "To be" not "to have" are the focal points of this ecological center which also has a hotel and camp grounds.
To live in sync with nature is the center's motto which received the Ecological Hotel of the Year award in 1995. Whether one just wants to get away from the humdrum life, enjoy the extensive hikes in the area or join one of the many courses offered here - it is all possible here. There is also the Naturetum in Acquacalda which shows the typical flora and cultures of the Lukmanier region.
How to get there:
Drive or take public transportation (Swiss Post Bus) from Bellinzona to the Lukmanier Pass via Biasca or from Chur to the Lukmanier Pass via Disentis-Oberalp Pass.
