The old muleteer's track that connects Sonogno to Lavertezzo is called "Sentierone per l"arte". On some stretches it runs on the right side of the River Verzasca, sometimes it runs on its left side. The clear river waters have rounded off the large rocks in its midst. The hiking trail is dotted with interesting cultural highlights ranging from chapels, holy markers, and bridges. In fact, it is so inspiring that several artists have decided to focus on this valley in their art. There are 30 sculptures and on-site installations that dot the trail between Brione and Lavertezzo. The art reflects the ancient history of this valley and the many influences the people have been subjected to. It is a good thing that one can quickly jump into the cool Verzasca before one"s head overheats!
How to get there:
Drive or take public transportation from Bellinzona or Locarno to Brione in the Verzascatal via Gordola.
