The path through the Schöllenen Gorge and the barren valley of Urserental up to the Pass is an experience one should have at least once in one's liftime. Be it on foot or by nostalgic Post Bus, or by stagecoach drawn by 5 horses just like in the 19th Century.
Simply breathtaking is the ride through the Tremola, which was built between 1827 and 1830 on the southern flank of the Gotthard Pass and surmounts in hair raising serpentines the 1000 meters in altitude difference between the ridge of the Pass and Airolo.
The price for the ride Andermatt-Airolo is CHF 627.-, incl. food and service.
How to get there:
By public transportation from Zürich/Bellinzona to Andermatt.
Crossing the Gotthard Pass in a Horse-drawn Stagecoach
