Fiesch

The Aletsch Glacier is Central Europe's largest glacier. On its Southern flank there is a unique kind of nature reserve. This interesting hike connects Kühboden on beautiful hiking trails to the Aletsch Forest. The views onto the glacier and the surrounding mountains are overwhelming.
This Aletsch Glacier hike begins at the middle station of the Eggishorn cable-car, on the Kühboden. A wide trail with great views leads towards Bettmeralp. At all times, one can see the Mischabel range, with each mountain at least 4'000 meters high. At the Furri Hut, go right up the rather steep but short trail to the Aletsch Forest, passing by the Rote Kumma. And now for the highlight of the hike: follow the trail towards Altstafel Mauer to wind up in Riederfurka. From here, there is a wide trail leading down to Riederalp.

Starting point: Aerial cable-car station Kühboden.
Destination: Mountain station of the Riederalp cable-car.
Take the Eggishorn cable-car from Fiesch to Kühboden; return by aerial cable-car from Riederalp to Mörel, and from there by train to Fiesch.
