Special distinction 2002
Distinguished "for the above-average experience value in this historic hotel renovated according to present criteria for the preservation of historic monuments."
The former sanatorium of Nünalphorn, built in 1896 by local hotel pioneer Franz Hess-Michel, immediately proved to be so successful that several areas and floors were already added during the first decade of its existence. Since 1994, the house has been renovated step by step according to present-day criteria for the preservation of historic monuments. The common rooms on the expertly restored ground floor offer an outstanding experience both in terms of aesthetics and historic preservation. The rooms have been tastefully refurbished according to original examples. The overall impression of this hotel, nestled in a unique landscape, is one of loving attention to detail: The curved pergola welcomes arriving visitors, and the outside café invites them to stay for a while.
