Today this baroque building complex is a conglomerate of seven narrow, interconnected buildings and discernable as a hotel in the Belle Époque style. The Hotel Wilden Mann was extended in the 19th century and another floor added. It is considered a prominent witness of the history of tourism in Lucerne. Today's Wilden Mann occupies what were once seven separate houses in the picturesque medieval town centre of Lucerne.The earliest written record of the establishment is dated 1517 describes it as a "Pinte", meaning a house without a licence; indeed, not until 1726 was the Wilden Mann able to call itself a tavern.
The entire complex now counts as impressive testimony to the history of tourism in Lucerne.
Despite being a conglomerate of seven different houses, the hotel is still a recognizably Belle Epoque structure which blends in perfectly with the historical architecture surrounding it.
