Overzicht

St Peter’s Island is the jewel of Lake Biel/ Bienne. It was formed in the last Ice Age, when the Rhone glacier reached as far as the Jura.

A stay in the 13-room hotel, surrounded by forests and vineyards, offers a blissfully quiet escape – and a strong sense of history. The hotel grew out of the buildings of a 12th-century Cluniac monastery, and former guests have included Rousseau, Goethe and the Empress Bonaparte.

The atmosphere in the lovingly run restaurant is particularly inviting, with its five stylishly decorated rooms. The local fish specialities are complemented by a broad menu, and a variety of fine wines from all over the world.
