Les Diablerets
Intro
Les Diablerets, situated at an altitude of 1,200 m between Lake Geneva and Gstaad, is a Mecca for adventure sports. The Glacier 3000 ski area, in the heart of the Vaud Alps, offers all the pleasures of skiing.
Description
In the Middle Ages, the rocky face of the massif that surrounds the small village in the Ormonts valley was considered a dangerous and cursed place where the devil raged. This is where the village got its name, Les Diablerets. Nowadays, no one has to fear this place anymore. However, it may take a little courage to try out the many adventure sports on offer in the surrounding area. In recent years, the resort has been made more attractive to families thanks to a wide-ranging program of events and new facilities specially adapted for children.
Winter
A variety of snowshoeing, skiing and hiking trails also give you the chance to discover sublime snow-covered landscapes. To top it all off, on the Glacier 3000 ski area, a restaurant designed by star architect Mario Botta offers an exceptional panorama of the Lake Geneva region. Up there, you can also enjoy a Glacier Walk and cross the famous Peak Walk, the only bridge in the world to link two peaks. The Black Wall, a brand-new black run with slopes of up to 46°, is a real adrenaline rush for the experienced skier.
Summer
In addition, there are numerous signposted hiking trails, as well as several mountain bike and e-bike itineraries. A number of cultural excursions are a must in the region: the Musée des Ormonts in Vers-L'Eglise, the Musée du Vin et de la vigne in Aigle (not far from Lake Geneva), the salt mines of Bex, as well as Gstaad, the nearest luxury resort, via the Col du Pillon.
