From the 24th to 26th July 2015, don't miss the Alphorn festival, placed this year under the sign of the 200th anniversary of the Valais.
More than a simple gathering of players, the Valais Drink Pure Festival equally offers an official competition, a big traditional procession, a country dance, demonstrations of Swiss wrestling, performances by folklore groups and ensemble pieces of music.
This event is a true popular festival concentrated on Swiss folklore. It takes place between the Plaine des Ecluses in the heart of the resort (Friday-Saturday) and the exceptional site of the Lac noir de Tracouet (Sunday).
The official competition unites more than 100 players divided into several categories. A blinded jury of experts listens to and evaluates the pieces played. This procedure is unique in Switzerland up to now.
Nearly 12,000 spectators travel to Nendaz each year to take part in this original and traditional festival! All the entertainments and productions are free (except for the ride up to Tracouet in the telecabine on Sunday).
SPECIAL EDITION LABEL 2015
The canton has bestowed upon the Valais Drink Pure Festival the Label 2015, awarded to certain events on the occasion of the bicentennial of the entrance of the Valais into the Confederation. This 14th edition will therefore have a special flavour. For the occasion, 200 alphorn players will be united for the ensemble piece, accompanied by 27 flag throwers (one per canton plus the flag of Nendaz). The offer concerning entertainments will be well-endowed.
EXCEPTIONAL CONCERT WITH OESCH'S DIE DRITTEN
Oesch's die Dritten will give a concert in Nendaz on Saturday 25th July 2015. This group has already given shows on more than 200 occasions in Swiss German and German TV broadcasts and has given hundreds of concerts. This famous music group from the Bernese Oberland already has several gold and platinum discs among its assets. Last but not least: this concert is free!
