Grengiols

From Minusio one can enjoy a magnificent panoramic promenade along the shores of Lago Maggiore. It is an easy route, entirely flat, mostly on sidewalks and roads exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists. From the port of Minusio walk towards Locarno, following the footpath that runs alongside the lake. Among a multitude of villas you can admire the impressive 'Ca' di ferro', built in the middle of the sixteenth century as barracks of mercenaries: one of the most important historic buildings in the region. A little further on you will reach Rivapiana, characterized by cozy green areas and small sandy beaches. There you will find the church of San Quirico, embedded in the park of the homonymous villa. Another point of interest is the Museum Elisarion. In 1927 the Estonian-born artist and poet Elisar von Kupffer built his Minusio Villa respecting the principals of the Klarismus movement. In 1976-78 Elisarion was converted into the town‘s Cultural Centre.
