The oldest place of worship in the Canton of Schaffhausen, situated on a hill, is the church, consecrated to the Evangelist, St. John the Baptist, with its Baroque onion tower which can be seen from afar. Both legally as well as structurally it has a complicated history with a lot of changes and is situated in the midst of the Roman Castle, Tasgetium. Today’s church is located in the centre where there are still wall fragments to testify to its past history.
