Introdução

Typical of the Grisons and no secret at all Bündner Bergkäse is made from pure, aromatic mountain milk in Alpine dairies at above 1’000 meters altitude.

Descrição

A primal, natural original product made into cheese by hand according to a tried and tested recipe in selected dairies at above 1’000 metres altitude. Its first-class character only fully develops after the journey down into the valley and a ripening time of up to 9 months.

Small businesses from 30 valleys

Containing nothing but the finest herbs that grow just once a year on the hills of the Grisons and with the contribution of traditional small businesses from 30 valleys, Bündner Bergkäse is the icing on the cake on any cheeseboard and adds a refreshing, aromatic touch to any salad. When heated, it gives sauces, casseroles and bakes a hearty flavour. And it tastes equally as good in stuffed or baked vegetables as with meat dishes of all kinds.

The Bündner Bergkäse Interprofessional body has simplified the variety structure and harmonised labelling. The packaging for Bündner Bergkäse extra, the most noble and mature of all Bündner Bergkäse, is decorated gold. The aromatic cheese can be recognised by its red packaging, the mild cheese by yellow, and the half-fat cheese and quarter-fat cheese by the colours blue and green.
