The purpose of the European Heritage Days is to stimulate the interest of a broad public in our shared cultural heritage and encourage people to protect it. Anyone interested is welcome to join tours, visits to artist studios and construction sites, excursions and many other events on the second weekend in September of every year at around 300 different places all over Switzerland.
Since the first European Heritage Days were held in 1994, they have grown into the largest event intended to sensitize the public to the protection of our cultural heritage, drawing more than 50,000 visitors a year.
