The small, picturesque Rhine town, Diessenhofen, is situated between Schaffhausen and Stein am Rhein. The former convent buildings of St. Katharinental belong to this community - a real treasure directly on the Rhine.
The river banks, flanked by forested hills, offer relaxing walks and extended hikes. The anglers are happy to fish and the bathers have a beautifully situated public swimming area to enjoy. Furthermore, Diessenhofen hotels are also known for their excellent cuisine and taverns.
The permanent art exhibition by Carl Roesch in "Oberen Amtshaus" is a special treasure of Diessenhofen. It houses a complete overview of the works of this great Swiss painter and mosaic artist (1884-1979). The local museum is in the same house. Displayed there is the development of Diessenhofen from a German hamlet to the small medieval town.
