Gd Hôtel Bella Tola & St-Luc stars

Fabulously located historic hotel dating from 1859, with a view of the Valais Alp 4000ers (peaks over 4 000 metres). Neatly renovated and with an elegant wellness facility added in 2004, the former chalet is now a stylish, luxurious gem with original furnishings. Situated 1650m above sea level in the middle of an alpine hiking and skiing paradise. Authentic cuisine, excellent Valais wine list.

Rolling soapstone stove

Who would think that a stove made of soapstone could have wheels! The massive soapstone stove at the Hotel Bella Tola weighs several hundred kilos and can be admired in the Vallet parlor, on the first floor of the hotel. The wood-fuelled stove would give off heat during several hours and was formerly used to heat the rooms of the large house, for instance on cool late summer evenings. When the season was over at the end of September, Gabriel and Henri Pont, the hotel owners, would pull the stove into the private apartment on the same floor with straps so it could continue rendering service there.

Elected Historic Hotel of Switzerland in 2001, this hotel radiates 1859 nobility and alpine elegance. Original furnishing in the rooms and lounges; the dining room displays 19th century ceiling painting. Large collection of original paintings. Frequent events with a cultural and historic background, such as concerts, talks and themed hikes.

Historic hotel of the year 2001

Originally built in 1859, this hotel already had its first extensions done only ten years later by the renowned hotel architect Louis Maillard from Vevey. On a terrace overlooking the mountain road, the Bella Tola embodies a typical alpine hotel of the 19th century that, thanks to further additions, has developed into a Grand Hotel. It remained in the hands of the same family for three generations, after which it was changed into a shareholder company before finally falling into the possession of Anne-Françoise and Claude Buchs. The new owners have restored the house to some of its original luster, which had been lost little by little through the different phases of transformation. Today, the overall historic appearance is kept intact, with the old floors and windows having been stylishly renovated. The personal involvement of the current owners is inimitable, and a stay at this gem of a hotel in the Val d’Anniviers is a real experience.
