描述

The Diablerets massif literally towers above the village of the same name. When, in 1714, a piece of the huge mountain detached itself and devastated the Alp Derborence in the Valais, the locals were convinced that the devil (diable) was living within and named the mountain accordingly. One of the best views of the mountain may be seen from the Lac Retaud. The hiking trail that leads up from the Col du Pillon passes this idyllic lake, which is frozen over in the winter. The starting point can be reached by post bus from Gstaad or Les Diablerets. Before you start your hike, we recommend you take the cable car from the pass to Glacier 3000 as here you have a magnificent view of the Alps. When you start your hike after your detour to the airy heights, you see that the scenery is no less spectacular. The route runs from the Col du Pillon and inclines slightly upwards over snowy meadows and through mountain forest to the Lac Retaud and onwards to Isenau. From there you return to Les Diablerets by cable railway.
