Steven Isserlis & Camerata Bern
Overview
Intro
Isserlis connects his own musical background with a charming story about his grandfather, who could not find an apartment due to Beethoven's alleged loudness.
Steven Isserlis, artistic partner of the Camerata Bern since 2022, is one of the most charismatic cellists of our time. Coming from a world full of music, he brings to life the most charming anecdotes in his lively books. For example, the story of his grandfather, the pianist Julius Isserlis, who came with Steven's father from Russia to Vienna in the early 1920s – and was rejected by a 102-year-old landlady, although he believed he had finally found an apartment. The reason? Her aunt once hosted a musician who was too loud. His name: Ludwig van Beethoven!
