The name is full of promise by itself: Pichoux literally means “1,000 springs”. It is true that the gorges created by the river Sorne include an impressive number of springs, where water gushes from the limestone rocks when it rains heavily.
The gorges are situated on the road between Bellelay and Undervelier. A hiking path runs through the middle of the imposing gorge where the roaring waters of the Sorne are confined between almost vertical cliffs. The "Lac Vert" at the bottom of the gorges is also worth a visit. An ideal place for a picnic in a wonderful natural setting that has even found its way into the federal inventory of natural landscapes, sites and monuments of national importance.
