A short stroll away is the lively Bundesplatz, whose 26 fountains represent the 26 Swiss cantons.
Facing it stands the Federal Palace, the Bundeshaus, with its distinctive cupola. Construction began in 1852 and was completed in 1902. The seat of Switzerland’s government and federal parliament may be visited from Monday to Saturday, free of charge.
