Muggestutz adventure dwarf trails
Distance 4 km
Duration 1 h 30 min
Ascent 372 m
Legends about the Hasli dwarves are deeply embedded in the tradition of the Haslital valley. The undisputed star is the oldest dwarf, Muggestutz, and the adventure trail from the Mägisalp to Bidmi is a way for young and old hikers alike to playfully discover his story in what promises to be an unforgettable experience.
The journey there is already part of the adventure: travel by cable car from Meiringen or Hasliberg-Reuti to reach the Mägisalp upper station, where the dwarf trail begins. This easy mountain hike mostly runs downhill over Alpine meadows and forest paths. It harbours quite a few secrets: Muggestutz and his buddy have left their mark in the Tannzapfentröchni, Adlerschaukel and Höhle. At various stations, children can immerse themselves in the story of the oldest Hasli dwarf. An adventure of this kind is sure to make tummies rumble, but luckily there are two great barbecue sites to stop off at along the route. From the Bidmi middle station, the final destination of this hike, take the cable car back down to Hasliberg-Reuti, where the story of Muggestutz continues on a second adventure trail. At around 3km long, it goes from the Käserstatt upper station to Bannwald, passing through upland moors above the Balisalp and along the Wildbach stream. Nine different stations here share tales of Muggestutz and offer much to amaze little explorers. The dwarf trails are both open from mid-June to October.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
