Matterhorn Glacier Trail
Getting close to the glaciers on a safe trail? Looking at the water trickling out of the glaciers? In addition to a lot of useful information, this trail also offers a special kind of hiking experience.
Since the ice age (around 1850), the Theodul and the Furgg Glaciers have receded more than 3 km. This trail provides useful information on 23 panels located at interesting places about the glacial recession and what was left behind. It also shows the living conditions of flora and fauna and how humans are using what was left. The trail leads across gravel and rocks past a number of small lakes. Good shoes are recommended and appropriate clothing is necessary, depending on the weather, such as rain gear. An insider tip not to be missed: the reflection of the Matterhorn in the lake of the Theodul Glacier.
