The fifth stage encompasses a steep passage through a patch of forest and onwards to the largest alp in Switzerland, with around 1,200 cows, Urnerboden. Here, secluded forest trails are interspersed with beautifully quaint villages. Having conquered a few metres in altitude during the first section, the finishing straight to the stage destination is on level paths alongside the river.
Forestry work: Linthal, Nussbühl
As a result of continued work the roads are closed from Mon - Fri: 07.00 - 19.00 o`clock! On Saturday and Sunday you can walk at your own risk. The owner, the construction management and the forestry company reject any liability.
From there, picturesque hiking trails lead to Nussbühl, where mountain restaurants and an inviting Alpine dairy “Beiz” establishment serve coffee and Alpine cheese for a well-deserved break. From Nussbühl, you then drop down quite significantly, before completing the final few kilometres along the Fätschbach stream to reach Urnerboden.
