A treasure of its time: the Felsenweg rock path with the Hammetschwand lift is testament to pure pioneer spirit.
It's hard to believe that the spectacular rock path on the Bürgenstock is now over 100 years old. In 1905, the founder of the spa town, Franz-Josef Durrer, spent five years making the dream of a hiking path a reality. Undaunted and still running today: the Hammetschwand lift climbs up the steep north slope. Today, the Felsenweg offers an educational trail with interesting facts on 100 million years of biology, geography, physics and history, as well as some spectacular views.
