Nothing quite compares to Lugano’s Estival Jazz: world-famous groups and soloists give top-class jazz and blues concerts in the open air – which fans can enjoy free of charge, without exception.
In the 37 years since it was established, this event has evolved into one of Europe’s most important jazz festivals. It has steadily expanded, too: from the Piazza Riforma to various other squares in Lugano – and now to the town of Mendrisio. These high-profile concerts are spread over two weekends. One is grouped around the beautiful Piazza Riforma in Lugano and the other fills the Piazzale alla Valle in Mendrisio, built by Ticino architect Mario Botta.
